It’s hard to find time to sit down and write when you have a broken heart. Because all you want to do is fill up your time with something that doesn’t remind you of him. Something that doesn’t give you a nanosecond to wonder what he’s doing or if his glasses came in or if he’s got any auditions coming up. Something that will make you feel like you just might be okay.

And then sometimes, you’ve just gotta sit down and let yourself think about it. Think about him and the phone call and packing your stuff up in your car. And then you look through old movie tickets and pictures and read the email he sent after your first date and the text messages over a year old still on your phone. And you let yourself think about it until it feels like your heart just might blow up in your chest, shrapnel landing throughout your body until you are entirely consumed by the thought of him and your broken heart.

And then you take a deep breath, wipe your eyes and find something to do. Something that will make you feel like you just might be okay . . .
